In his two recent books, In Search of Greatness: Attributes of Achievement and Lessons for Life (Town Books, 2002), and The Heart of Success: Conversations With Notable Achievers (BainBridgeBooks, 2001), Dr. Tripps helps readers place their life journeys in perspective. He believes that people need to embrace the notion that they do not become great simply because their achievements have been broadcast on television or reported in the local paper. Based on his personal interviews with 160 acclaimed performers, athletes, and intellectuals, Dr. Tripps identifies qualities that ordinary individuals can develop in order to achieve personal greatness.
Dr. Tripps is Executive Director of the American Institute of Sport and affiliated human performance laboratory, and Chair of Seattle University’s Department of Sport Studies where he teaches the Psychology of Leadership and Achievement. He has also been a guest lecturer on university campuses throughout the United States and has served as a consultant to education, business, and government, providing training for senior level managers, nurturing organizational leadership, and enriching employee skills.

ASCC
The Associated Students of Cerro Coso (ASCC), is the official student organization, with membership open to all students. The ASCC, through its governing body the Student Senate, promotes the Student Activities Program at Cerro Coso. A system of self-government has been established by which the students, through democratic action, formulate and execute policies and programs and prepare the student body's financial budget.
Cerro Coso Community College students are expected to become members of the ASCC through the purchase of a student identification card each semester at the time of registration. These funds, in turn, support the Student Activities Program which benefits the college and contributes to the welfare of all students.
Active membership in the Associated Students organization may qualify an individual to serve as a club or area representative to the Student Senate, to hold office, to join college student organizations, to be eligible for student loans, and to receive student discounts in the college bookstore, as well as in the community. Members are also entitled to reduced or free admission to various on-campus and off-campus events sponsored by the ASCC.
Students with further questions on how to join the ASCC, or for more information may call the Student Activities Office at (760) 384-6353. Students at campus sites or centers may contact their local administrator.
